Meeting Local Needs

We listen first, then build programs around what neighbors tell us they need.

How We Decide What to Offer

Karama's programs grew out of real conversations: parents who wanted to talk with their children's teachers, workers who wanted better jobs, families who needed groceries to get through the month.

  • We ask. Surveys, listening sessions and everyday conversations at the pantry.
  • We partner. We work with schools, employers, clinics and other nonprofits instead of starting from scratch.
  • We follow up. We check in with families to learn what worked.
